Spent my birthday last Friday with just my close friends. I wanted a simple celebration minus the fuss and without fanfare. And since I only get to see my close friends a few times in a year due to our busy schedules, I thought it would be good to gather them together in one night for a simple dinner. We had dinner at Banapple in Makati but it rained later in the night. The rain poured heavily so even though we brought umbrellas we still got wet when we left the place. Heavy rain meant more blessings, as my friend Ghe observed.

My new apartment room has a nice view of the city skyline. Whereas my old room in my previous apartment did not have any good view from its window (all it had was a view of the small backyard), this one makes up for it. I can see the sky and the surrounding high-rise hotels from the window of my new apartment room.
I also had the opportunity last night to hang out a bit on the rooftop of the apartment building. The air is cooler there and breezy during the day so it is a perfect spot for relaxing. I spent a few minutes there just chilling and admiring the view. The view on the rooftop is quite marvelous. Though it is just a mid-rise building, one can still see a panoramic view of the city skyline from the top. I couldn’t let the good view pass without taking any pictures so I brought my camera with me and started capturing images.

I like listening to music while I write. I use it as background to get my good mood going. While other writers want total silence when they write, I prefer listening to music as I type on my computer. Lately I’ve been searching for the right kind of music to to listen to when I write. I used to listen to my favorite songs while I write but I eventually discovered that it tend to distract me. I couldn’t write properly because I get distracted by the lyrics. I would find myself singing along and before I knew it, my mind would be somewhere else. So what I did was to play instrumental music. I like techno and rave music so that’s what I mostly listen to now when I write. I don’t want to listen to classical music or any of those sappy piano ballads when writing because I get sleepy when I do. When I write I want to listen to lively and energetic music. It makes me feel awake and alert and I’d be more inspired. To me it’s like an adrenalin rush that keeps me going.

But there are times when I’m also in the mood for something slower like Enigma or Enya. I also have a few MP3 collection from DJ Tiesto and Paul Oakenfold. Unfortunately though I have limited knowledge of good techno and rave music so I’m not sure which other artists/DJs to listen to. Deep Forest sounds good. Should I get Art of Noise? How about Chicane? Who else is good out there?

The holidays all went in a blur for me. I was too busy packing my things, cleaning my room, shopping, and going just about everywhere in preparation of my transfer to another apartment. Since September of 2010, my sister and I had been planning to move in together after living separately for over five years. After months of looking for a new place to stay, I finally found one that’s just perfect for us both. I filed my vacation leave at the office early so I could have time to transfer to a new apartment. I moved in to my new apartment room last mid-December. My sister will be moving in with me later this month.
I was so focused on my apartment transfer over the holidays that I hadn’t been online most of the time. I didn’t go online for seven days! That’s probably the longest time I’ve ever been offline. Normally I would be offline for four days only. Then I would feel disconnected to the world so I’d go online again mostly checking my emails. Last Christmas I only got to go online twice, but that’s only because I need to check my email.
I’m already quite settled in my new apartment. All the unpacking and cleaning is done. Decorating and final furnishing is what’s only left for me to do. I have to wait for my sister to move in before we can both furnish and decorate the place. I like my new apartment. Moving out of my old apartment room was such a relief for me. A lot of things have happened in that old house that I didn’t like. Besides, I needed a bigger room and equally bigger closet, haha! So now that the dusts have settled (figuratively speaking), I’m looking forward to making good memories in my new apartment.
